Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four initial break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
